Due to the ongoing situation caused by the global outbreak of Covid-19, organisers of the Get Connected Rali Bae Ceredigion have taken the regretful but inevitable decision to cancel this year’s event.
With national legislation and guidelines regarding social distancing, movement of people and large gatherings expected to continue for some time, rallies together with other major sporting events and well attended occasions have also become victim to the effects of the pandemic.
Chairman of the organising committee Phil Pugh endorses the decision and made the following statement:
“It is with much regret that we have had to cancel this year’s rally, especially after the success of our inaugural event last year. As always, the safety of everyone involved is our number one priority.
We are extremely mindful of the community that so warmly welcomed the rally in 2019. While in the good times we can benefit the local economy by bringing revenue into the region, now is not the time for us to organise an event that will involve the interaction and movement of people over the next few months.
Therefore, we have decided to make this announcement now, having taken into account the situation regarding the ongoing restrictions, information published by the sport's governing body Motorsport UK and the recent cancellation of Wales Rally GB .
Later in the year when the situation becomes clearer, we look forward to working with local authorities and our commercial partners to discuss plans for 2021. In the meantime, on behalf of the organising team I would like to thank all of our stakeholders, competitors and followers for their understanding and continued support.”
Further news and announcements about the 2021 Get Connected Rali Bae Ceredigion will be made as soon as national conditions allow and when plans for the event have been put in place.
