I’m Ian Evans, the Chief Marshal for the Nicky Grist Stages 2016 and I would like to invite you, your club and your friends to this years’ event promoted by Quinton Motor Club Ltd.
There are a few changes this year that we are hoping will give you a busy and interesting event.
For many years the event has been recognized as one of the best one-day gravel rallies in the UK and we are pleased to continue our association with BTRDA, Welsh National & FMP Championships and will offer competitors in those championships the usual high standard gravel event.
New for 2016 is the inclusion of the HRCR Stage Masters Championship, which will run alongside our established championships on the one-day gravel event and we are delighted to be included in the rejuvenated MSA British Rally Championship and this is where our new adventure starts, a two-day event incorporating the gravel stages on Saturday and Asphalt stages on the Sunday, so this is what we have planned:
Saturday will be more or less the same as previous years. It will be four of the usual stages run twice making a total of eight stages. All competitors will tackle these challenging stages one convoy. After the last stage on Saturday the event will return to the Royal Welsh Show Ground, here the one-day event competitors will finish, while those doing the two-day evet will have a timed service in order to prepare their cars for the following days’ asphalt stages. before they go into Park Fermé.
Sunday the competitors will leave service and return to the ranges to run over a total of ten stages. There will be a remote service on the Rangers to keep the event as compact as possible.
I hope this has wetted your appetite to help us on one or both days and you will come and enjoy the event. As you can see I will need a lot of support from very kind people like yourself giving up your valuable time to come and support the event, entries have only been open a few days as I draft this and already we have over 70. As a token of our appreciation all event volunteers will get a “goodie” on Saturday and then something different on Sunday.
We need your help on the stages and in service covering most roles. If you or your club are interested in helping out let me know what you would like to do and I will try to accommodate your request.
For those wishing to help on both days the event has arranged free camping at the Show Ground for marshals and if you have a caravan, camper that will need electric hook up there will be a small charge of £5.00 to cover the weekend. Can you book your camping through me please to avoid any mix up for the Venue Commander. Please note that the MOD do not want anyone staying on the ranges overnight and they will police this themselves.
If you are thinking of booking accommodation, please do this asap as all the accommodation is filling up very quickly.
To volunteer you can go direct to a Venue Commander, to me direct or through the web site. Whichever is best for you but please don't call after 21.00.
My details are ianevans737@btinternet.com or marshals@nickygriststages.co.uk telephone 07899 045006 or 01246 863507 home or through the website.
I would like to thank you for taking time to read this email and if you can think of anyone who would like to support us please pass this email on. If you have been contacted by any of the team or received this email more than once, please accept my apologies.
Kind Regards
Ian.
